Aquatic Park

Aquatic Park
San Francisco, California

Built in 1939, Aquatic Park was a public bathing club between the Hyde Street Pier and Fort Mason. Presently, the site is home to the National Maritime Museum and a location for many aquatic events throughout the year. At the termination of the city’s famous Embarcadero waterfront this prominent location offers the perfect opportunity to revitalize a connection to the city and making it a significant space at the waters edge. The extension of the striped paving and palm tree allee along the waterfront brings continuity and familiarity to the plaza termination. On axis with the trolley station a promenade leads visitors directly to the water and space below. The promenade punctuates the existing seatwall offering a picturesque spot for photographs, views, and direct access to the beach.
